Bio

Avery brings over 30 years of financial services experience to Atlantic Union Bank. As a Senior Executive Commercial Banker, Avery specializes in supporting family businesses within the commercial and industrial sectors, including manufacturing, distribution, wholesale, B2B, B2C and owner-occupied real estate. He is also proficient in managing relationships with nonprofits, investment real estate and healthcare services.

Prior to joining Atlantic Union Bank, Avery held various roles in consumer, business and commercial banking at Wells Fargo. His career is driven by a commitment to helping his clients achieve success and doing so with integrity. Avery believes that the ability to listen and problem solve in an efficient and collaborative manner are key to fostering long-term, personal relationships with his clients.

Avery holds a bachelor's degree in communications from Appalachian State University, an MBA from Pfeiffer University and has completed the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He is actively involved in professional associations, serving on the board of the Kernersville Rotary Club, as Chair of Governance and Social Responsibility for the Novant Health Parent Board of Trustees and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., among other civic and community groups.

A former starting defensive tackle for ASU and two-time All-American, Avery is an avid supporter of Appalachian State Football. When he isn’t assisting clients or catching the game, he also enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling and exercising.
