John Young

Bio

John serves as Head of SBA Lending at Atlantic Union Bank, where he oversees all aspects of the SBA Lending team, including sales, underwriting, service, support and reporting. With more than 40 years of experience in commercial and business banking, he brings deep expertise in helping clients access the right SBA solutions to meet their needs.

Throughout his career, John has advanced through leadership roles as Market President, Regional President and Group President of SBA and Business Banking. His broad experience across industries and his focus on complex lending opportunities make him a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues alike. John is often recognized as a thoughtful financial partner, known for listening carefully, offering solutions in his clients’ best interests and building long-term relationships rather than one-time transactions.

John holds a B.S. in Management Science from Binghamton University and has completed graduate programs at the Graduate School of Banking at LSU, the Executive School of Bank Leadership and LEAD Virginia. He also earned a certification in advanced commercial lending.

Originally from Syosset, NY, John began his banking career in Northern Virginia before settling in Charlottesville, VA. Outside of work, he enjoys playing pickleball and golf, hiking, exercising outdoors and traveling with his wife.
