Atlantic Union Bank Donates Historic Sandy Spring Bank Headquarters Building

Following the successful merger of Atlantic Union Bank and Sandy Spring Bank in 2025, Atlantic Union Bank became the inheritor of not only the bank, but its legacy. An important part of that legacy is the historic Sandy Spring Bank Headquarters building, located in Olney, Maryland. To help preserve its important past for generations to come, Atlantic Union Bank is pleased to announce its donation to the Sandy Spring Museum, along with the bank's archives and a $100,000 contribution to support the museum's mission.

“We are proud to help preserve a landmark that represents more than a century of community history,” said Nathalia Artus, Head of Community Impact at Atlantic Union Bank. “By donating the building and its archives, we hope to expand access to these stories and support the museum’s work to preserve and share the region’s cultural heritage for generations to come.”

Founded in 1868, Sandy Spring Bank not only grew with the surrounding community, it helped shape it. It's a legacy carried on by the Sandy Spring Museum. The museum is dedicated to preserving the history of the Sandy Spring area and supports community-driven cultural arts and educational programs.

This partnership brings together the museum, donors and the community to ensure the headquarters building continues to serve as a place for learning, connection and reflection well into the future.
