Dickens Christmas Towne

As the literary world marked the 175th anniversary of the publishing of A Christmas Carol, Atlantic Union Bank helps the Norfolk community – and Nauticus’ Dickens’ Christmas Towne – celebrate by bringing in
renowned Irish artist P. J. Lynch, who brought the story to life through his beautiful illustrations.

Mr. Lynch originally sketched four illustrations as a project while at the Brighton College of Art in England. A few years later, when looking for a project for his publisher Walker Books, Lynch revisited the pictures. His pitch was to abridge the text but they loved the images so much, they left the entire text in place and commissioned him to create another 90 illustrations for the project. The book was published in 2006 and is the largest picture book he’s ever created.

The magic of his work is on display at The Art of Christmas through December 31, 2018. Each child who attends Dicken’s Christmas Towne will receive a copy of "A Christmas Carol," beautifully illustrated by Mr. Lynch.
