Atlantic Union Bank had fun at October Festivals

Atlantic Union Bank (AUB) had a lot of fun at festivals throughout October! As the weather turned cooler and our thoughts have been more about pumpkin spice and sweaters than shaved ice and flip flops, we’ve loved the chance to get out and celebrate the fall with our community.

2nd Street Festival

It all started off at the 2nd Street Festival, an annual celebration of historic Jackson Ward. This festival of music and art highlights this vibrant, historically Black community and showcases the importance of this area once known as the “Harlem of the South”. This great event celebrated its 35th year in Richmond, and we had some AUB teammates there to participate. With three stages of live music, a kids’ zone, a bunch of food vendors and an artists’ row to support local artists, everyone had a great time honoring the rich culture of Jackson Ward.

Richmond Folk Festival

If you’ve ever gone to the Richmond Folk Festival, you’ve probably seen the bucket brigade going around, collecting donations to keep the festival free. Well, if you’ve ever wondered who helps count and organize all the money they bring in, that team includes volunteers from Atlantic Union Bank. They spent their weekend counting the money that came in for the festival to support the goal of keeping the festival free, so that it’s as accessible as possible for our community. Walking around and hearing music from all around the world is an incredible opportunity for everyone in Richmond.

Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival

To finish off the month, we had a big weekend with the Scott’s Addition Pumpkin Festival. This celebration of fall brings together community members from all around Richmond to Scott’s Addition for a day of fun times and good food. Since our branch is right in the heart of Scott’s Addition, it was important to us to connect with everyone that day. We loved handing out goodies from our tent, and seeing how much fun everyone had at the festival. There were incredible costumes for the costume contest (and we even had a few volunteers of our own dress up!), rides for the kids, local bands for entertainment and a variety of food options for everyone to enjoy.

Almost every weekend, you can find AUB teammates out and about at an event we support. This October was an especially fun month with all of these festivals to go out and meet people throughout Richmond. We can’t wait to see you at a future event!
