Atlantic Union Bank has partnered with the Old Dominion University Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in an effort to build lasting relationships between the community, industry, and academia to have a positive impact on society and the economy.
The Institute includes Tempo, the Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), the Women's Business Center (WBC), the Business Development Center (BDC), and the Open Seas Technology Innovation Hub.
These separate centers under the Institute banner have their specific areas of focus so that they can ensure resources are allocated appropriately to accomplish their mission. For example, the Women’s Business Center seeks to ‘level the playing field’ for female entrepreneurs by providing the tools to successfully own, operate, and grow their businesses. And the Veterans Business Outreach Center provides entrepreneurial development services to veterans who own or are considering starting a small business.
The centers of the Institute create economic opportunities and job growth in Hampton Roads by investing financially in support of small business owners. In addition to financial resources, the Institute’s programs help with preparing business plans, counseling and mentoring, entrepreneurial training, and more! By fostering a community around the Institute, ODU also encourages a robust networking community where small business owners and future entrepreneurs can connect and form partnerships that will be beneficial in the future.
