This March, AUB leaders were thrilled to welcome a group of local high school students to give them insight into what life is like as a professional banker and within a banking organization. The day started with a general industry overview, then continued with CEO John Asbury, who talked to the students about Atlantic Union Bank specifically and answered questions that they had.
The day also included an overview of some of the basics of staying financially healthy, with a focus on topics that are particularly important for teens. Cheryl Kirby, a Solutions Banking Relationship Manager, talked to the students about the importance of establishing credit, how to financially prepare for college and the importance of creating a budget.
The students were also introduced to different types of career opportunities in banking, like IT and Cybersecurity, as well as Human Resources, Marketing and Corporate Communications. All of that information plus lunch sounds like a full day, but it still wasn’t done! The day ended with a speed-networking activity where the students could talk one-on-one with an AUB Teammate about their job.
This was a great day and our AUB Teammates had a great time getting to know these bright teens. We can’t wait for the future when they and their peers are ready to join us to take the world of banking farther than ever!
