Simply conduct a transaction such as making a deposit, withdrawal, transfer or using your debit or ATM card within every two-year period.

We’ll mail you a pre-dormant notification letter 30 calendar days prior to your account going into a dormant status detailing actions you can take to keep your account active, such as conducting a transaction on your account or scheduling an appointment with a Banker.
Atlantic Union Bank will mail you an additional letter called a dormant account notice. This notice informs you that your account is now in a dormant status and provides steps you’ll need to take to reactivate your account.

Once an account is considered dormant, and if there is no further activity generated by the account holder after a period of time that is determined by your state, the account will be considered abandoned. Abandoned bank accounts escheat to the state after five (5) years in Virginia and North Carolina and three (3) years in Maryland and Washington, DC. This means that we will be required to turn over your account to the state, and the state will become the custodian of that property.

At that time, we will mail a due diligence letter to accounts with a value of $100 or more for Virginia and Maryland and $50 or more for Washington, DC and North Carolina. The letter not only makes you aware of the impending transfer but also lets you know the steps you need to take to claim your property prior to that occurring.
Atlantic Union Bank offers a range of personal and business banking products, including checking and savings accounts, money market accounts, certificates of deposit (CDs), credit cards, lending solutions, home loans, home equity lines of credit, insurance solutions and wealth management services.
Requirements vary by account. Please refer to your account disclosure for more details.
An overdraft happens when there are not enough available funds in your account to cover a transaction.

Overdraft Services are options that help manage transactions when there are insufficient funds in your account.

Atlantic Union Bank offers many options for Overdraft Services and allows you to determine how you want them managed. Learn more about Overdraft Services.

For Businesses, learn more about Business Overdraft Services.

If your account has a negative balance, you’re expected to make a deposit as soon as possible to bring the balance back to at least zero.
Limits may apply depending on the account type and transaction method. For example, mobile check deposits, ACH transfers and ATM withdrawals may have daily or monthly limits. Also, transfers from a savings account are subject to the excessive transaction activity fee as disclosed in our truth-in-savings disclosures.

Customers using Zelle have a single transaction maximum of $1,000, a daily send maximum of $1,000 and a monthly send maximum of $3,000.
You can easily transfer money between accounts through Online and Mobile Banking or by visiting a local branch.
You can send money to another bank using ACH transfers, wire transfers or Zelle®.
Transfer limits and cut off times vary by transaction type and account.
Funds availability depends on the type of deposit and when it’s made. Some deposits, such as direct deposits, may be available immediately while others may take longer.
You can order checks through Online Banking or by contacting our Customer Care Center at 800.990.4828.
Atlantic Union Bank may place holds on certain deposits to verify funds. Hold times vary based on deposit type and history.

Mailing addresses vary by product. Please refer to your statement or contact us at 800.990.4828 for the correct address.

Your account’s Current Balance is the amount in your account after all transactions, credits and debits have been posted to your account at the end of each business day. It does not change throughout the day.

Your account’s Available Balance is the portion of your account balance that is available for you to use immediately. This balance will reflect any processed and pending transactions on your account, such as when you used your debit card to make a purchase or withdraw money from the ATM, and any holds that Atlantic Union Bank may place on your account. It can change throughout any given day based on the transactions you make.

A pending transaction is a transaction that has not been posted to your account but is reflected in your available balance. A debit card purchase may be pending until the merchant sends in the final transaction for payment. Remember, in situations where you include a tip (such as restaurants) or estimated authorization amount (such as gas stations and hotels), the final transaction amount submitted by the merchant may differ from the original pending transaction amount.
Generally, check deposits received by the cut-off time on business days will be available the next business day. But in some circumstances, Atlantic Union Bank will place holds on deposits which will delay when those funds will be available to you. There are several factors that contribute to a hold decision, including a review of your account history and the amount of the item presented. If we do place a hold on your deposit, you will be notified of the dates the funds will be available for payment or withdrawal. You will also be able to see any holds placed and check your available balance in Online and Mobile Banking, or by calling Customer Care at 800.990.4828. Please review our Consumer Deposit Account Agreement and Business Deposit Account Agreement for more information.

Home Loans

A mortgage is a loan used to buy a home or refinance an existing property. You borrow money and agree to repay it over time.
Atlantic Union Bank offers a range including fixed-rate mortgages, FHA loans, VA loans, jumbo loans and refinancing options. Each has unique benefits depending on your goals and financial situation. There are also state and local housing finance agency programs for which you may qualify. Please ask a loan officer for more information.
Consider factors like how long you plan to live in the home, current interest rates, your credit profile and monthly budget. Our mortgage specialists can help you compare options and find the best fit.
Our expert mortgage specialists will walk you through the process, but normally it requires proof of income, credit history, tax returns and other details about your assets and debts.
Approval times vary, but many applications are processed within a few days. Pre-qualification can make the process even faster.
Pre-qualification is a preliminary estimate of how much you may borrow based on basic financial information. Pre-approval involves a deeper review of your finances and provides a conditional commitment, as well as peace of mind, from the bank. This can allow you to compete with cash buyers in a tight real estate market.
Down payments typically range from 0%–20% of the home’s purchase price, depending on the loan program. There are loan options with low or no down payment requirements as well as assistance programs. To find applicable programs, please use our Down Payment Resource.
Closing costs cover fees for services like appraisals, title searches and legal documentation. They generally total 2%–5% of your loan amount. There are programs available designed to help homebuyers cover some or all of their closing costs. Our STAR (Steps Toward Achieving Results) Affordable Lending Program and Closing the Gap Loan are designed to make owning a home an affordable reality, as are a variety of state and local grant programs. For more information and to see if you qualify, please reach out to a mortgage lending expert.
Yes, Atlantic Union Bank offers first-time homebuyer programs, down payment assistance and government-backed options to make purchasing a home more accessible.
A HELOC is a variable rate revolving line of credit that allows you to borrow against the equity in your home. It works much like a credit card so you can draw funds as needed during the draw period and repay over time.
A fixed-rate advance allows the borrower to select a fixed-rate term and payment for a new advance or for any outstanding advances taken previously. Available terms include 5, 10, 15 and 20 years. This option provides more stability. For example, a $20,000 advance with a term of 15 years at 8.00% would have a payment of $95.57 each month. For more information, please stop by a local branch as these must be set up in one of our branches.
To open a Home Equity Line of Credit, borrowers can apply online or schedule an appointment to come into a branch to submit their application. Our HELOC offers the ability to lock in all or a portion of the outstanding balance into a fixed term. To take advantage of a fixed-rate HELOC advance, please talk to a banker.

With AUB's Home Equity Line of Credit, you have the best of both worlds! The main line is a variable rate with interest only payments. At any time, you can take all or a portion of the outstanding balance and lock into a fixed rate. This combination gives ultimate flexibility for any funding need and interest rate environment. Fixed rates must be set up in one of our branches.

If you need money now, you may be eligible for an Access Now loan that allows you to borrow against the approved credit limit without waiting for full approval and is paid off when you receive your HELOC funds.

Please visit our HELOC webpage to see our rates.
